Botanical Garden

The Porto Botanical Garden is located in Quinta do Campo Alegre, in the city of Porto. Its origins date back to 1837, but it wasn’t until the 1950s that it became part of the University of Porto, which introduced a variety of plants from different parts of the world, transforming the place into a true haven of biodiversity.

With an area of around 4 hectares, it is organized into three levels with different characteristics. On the first level are the entrance groves, the Galeria da Biodiversidade (Biodiversity Gallery), surrounded by a mixed border of native species, and the formal gardens, compartmentalized by tall hedges of centuries-old camellias. On the second level, there is a cactus and succulent garden with two greenhouses. The third level, at a lower level, houses the Arboretum and the garden’s largest pond.

Porto Botanical Garden stands out for its natural and historical richness, as well as providing a romantic atmosphere that welcomes all visitors.
